An Ode to...Running. Bare with me

Yeh I know. I'm Jess and I'm one of those running people now. *rolls eyes*

It's been a weird few years. Everything still feels a little upside down. Something I’ve been thinking about and leaning into a lot recently is running. It's not for everyone but it is for me, for now anyway.

Running gives me structure, purpose, a sense of achievement, is away from computer screens, makes me feel tired (but like good tired), it can be social when I want it to be, I can chill to my music and see some new sights at the same time. The chemicals my brain give me the best natural runners high after about 20 minutes too. It helps me drink less, eat better, makes me sleep more and overall helps me stay more balanced.

Who knows how long I’ll keep running for and who knows how long before my body tells me to fuck off but for now it’s been amazing. I wanted to share this post with you all as someone who is't an athlete or anything to see if you fancy giving running or even another form of exercise a try?

If this is a thing you want to try you could try downloading a 'Couch to 5k' App and see how you go. Grab some friends to do it with you? Just 10 mins then 15 mins then 20 mins over a few weeks. Find a beginners plan, stick to it if you can. Walk whenever you need to. Just a little bit everyday with plenty of stretching, protein and veg, water and sleep in-between. You might surprise yourself. Try the Nike Run Club app too. They have some good programs and guided audio runs to help motivate you. Don't go big too quickly. Listen to your body etc. <3

I’m attempting the Paris Marathon next month. Never run a marathon before. Never even been to Paris before. Don't really know what to expect but i'm up for it. I'm running to raise money for Alzheimer's Society because I have some friends and family who have experienced how heartbreaking this disease is. We need all the research and support we can get. If you are in a position to sponsor me heres my Donation page :)

Fanks then. That's all for now.

Keep moving
